striker who spent the majority of his career at Bristol CityAtyeo had an outstanding career and won six England caps from 1955 to 1957, scoring five goals. Despite offers from Chelsea, Spurs, Liverpool and
AC Milan which were worth around £20 million in today's moneyfact|date=September 2008 and could have made him the most expensive player in England, after signing from Portsmouth in 1951 he stayed with City throughout the rest of his career, making 647 appearances and became Bristol City's all time top scorer with 350 goals by the time he retired in 1966. The new stand that replaced the Park End atAshton Gate in 1994 is named the Atyeo Stand after him.Atyeo was always perceived by fans as being the image of Bristol City at the time as well as being popular with the ladies of the era with his near always slicked hair.
