Visenia Houtt.[1]Melochia is a genus of flowering plants in the mallow family, Malvaceae. Some authorities place it in Sterculiaceae.[1] It comprises 54 species from the tropical and subtropical regions of the world, ranging from India eastwards through Malesia and the Pacific Islands to the Americas and the Caribbean. The name comes from the Arabic word for tossa jute (Corchorus olitorius).[2]
