Meistersrüte is part of the district Appenzell Innerrhoden, c.a. 900 metres above sea level. It is a small village consisting of roughly 700 Inhabitants and has its own primary school, bakery, two carpenters, two builders,a furniture carpenter, a small 'bits and bobs' shop, a painter, several restaurants, a train stop (for the Appenzeller Bahnen- Sammelplatz) and an electrician.
Schooling
The school in Meistersrüte has five classrooms, of which three can be halved, a workshop, a bunker and an attic room, used on Wednesdays for an early morning church service, known as a 'rorate'. It has its own Kindergarten and consists of three classes: 1/2, 3/4/5, and 4/5/6 (not including 1 and 2 Kindergarten). The school has roughly 90 students and 7 teachers.

Middle of August: 'Games Day' 'Spieletag' which is organized by the school. There are lots of fun things to do such as 'BB-Gun' shooting, darts, a swimming pool and sometimes a bouncy castle, and there are loads of prizes to win.
Middle of February: Carnival. 'Fasnacht' There is a big party at the school, and then on the Sunday afterwards the carnival-committee parade the streets of Appenzell on floats pulled by tractors along with other committees from the surrounding area.
Beginning of March: 'Funkensonntag' A version of Bonfire night. To scare away the ghosts of winter.Categories:- Villages in Switzerland
