The first season of Medium, an American television drama series, originally aired in the United States on NBC between January 3, 2005, and May 23, 2005. The show was created by Glenn Gordon Caron and based on the experiences of real-life medium Allison DuBois, a suburban wife and mother who uses her ability to communicate with the dead to assist law enforcement officials in criminal investigations.

The season introduced regular cast members Patricia Arquette, David Cubitt, Maria Lark, Miguel Sandoval, Sofia Vassilieva and Jake Weber.

Allison has a dream of a husband and wife committing a murder/suicide. D.A. Although, after learning of Allison's gift, Scanlon decides he doesn't want her help – until he learns she really has the "gift".

Allison tries convincing Devalos that she heard a witness giving misinformation to a police sketch artist, making them look for the wrong man. Meanwhile, 6-year-old Bridgette's new playmate indicates that another member of the family can see the dead.

Allison seeks help from another psychic about a biopsy Joe is having done. The psychic tells her that Joe is fine – but her marriage might be in trouble. Allison meets a dead police officer and finds a clue about his murder. A defense attorney attempts to expose Allison for what she is.

Allison dreams that a man kidnaps Ariel. When she meets him in real life, she is shocked when he is not what he appeared to be in her dream... or at least, he isn't yet. Allison and Joe prepare for the possibility that she might be pregnant again.

Allison dreams that a young woman commits suicide by jumping off a cliff. An attorney and his son are both involved with this young woman.

Allison dreams her half-brother Michael is dead, but the next day he appears at her door with an army colleague. Michael is known in his regiment as "Lucky" because he guesses when to dodge lethal explosions. Allison has trouble communicating with a girl who died in a house fire. Michael helps her out but is in denial about the gift he has apparently inherited. Meanwhile, he is being blackmailed by an army colleague involved in something illegitimate.

Ariel has a dream about a girl that she thinks is real, however Allison believes that it is just a dream—at first.

A recurring dream about two boys trying to cross train tracks has been keeping Allison awake. Desperate for some sleep, she visits a doctor who researches mediums and psychics.

Sick with a cold, Allison's medium abilities go a little whacky and she receives a dream that leads her to investigate an old 1960s murder. The husband from a husband/wife team of an Ozzie and Harriet-style show was imprisoned for murdering his wife. But there is more to the story than meets the eye.

Allison encounters a psychopathic doctor who raped and murdered numerous teenage girls years ago. After learning that an evil soul has been possessing people, she sets forth to stop it before a new victim is found. Meanwhile, Ariel's math teacher accuses her of cheating and Joe steps up to her defense.

After seeing Capt. Kenneth Push in a vision at a murder scene, Allison calls upon his assistance to find a serial killer. However, the only way Capt. Push can help is by literally putting his life on the line.
