History
Mediatonic has developed very quickly over the last decade and is an example of the dynamic nature of the Finnish TMT (Technology, Media, Telecommunications) industrial sector. In 1988 Tanu-Matti Tuominen and Jari Tuovinen set up Tietovalta Oy, the first Finnish new media company, specialising in content production, visual design, interface design, database design, and training. Tietovalta was sold to TJ Group Plc in 1999 with net sales of FIM 40 million and profit after taxes of FIM 2 million.[2] By 2000 Tuovinen and Tuominen, had started an investment company Finance Group International Finland Oy (FGIF), which invested about 2.5 M € into ten start-up IT and media companies. In 2003 FGIF merged with Privanet Capital Corporation and Tuovinen and Tuominen became the main owners of Privanet.[3] FGIF Services Oy changed its name to Tuovinen Tuominen Oy in 2005 as part of a drive to develop the company which included selling all non-core assests outside of the IT and media sector. Tuovinen Tuominen Oy concentrated on giving assistance to small and medium-sized technology and media companies by creating business strategies, business plans and capital maintenance. It became a consultant to the media industry specialising in business development and finance-related issues. This change was completed in 2006 with another name change, this time to the Mediatonic Corporation and finally Mediatonic merged into the Zeeland Society Group in 2008[4]
