Services
MediBid.com opened to patients around the world on January 1, 2010.[1] The site was called the Travelocity of Healthcare by the California Conservative[2] as well as a “Deal or No Deal” service by WellSphere.[3] The site was founded by Ralph Weber, a Canadian who chose to move to America for the health of his family.[1]
Providers create profiles and receive alerts when there are new patients that match their qualifications. The providers then give private bids to the patient to provide the service. Patients review their bids and choose the provider that is right for them based on quality, location, availability, price, credentials, or any other attribute important to the patient.[1]
The company is financed by third-party contributions and sponsorships. The Chief Medical Officer is a radiologist and an author who contributes regularly to editorial newspapers. His book is Health Reform: The End of the American Revolution? [4]
