The Meals on Wheels Association of America (MOWAA), situated in Alexandria, Virginia and headed by President and CEO Enid Borden is the oldest and largest organization in the United States representing those who provide meal services to people in need, specifically those at risk of or experiencing hunger. MOWAA is a non-profit organization which works towards improving information and services provided to citizens.[1]
Recent studies
The Meals On Wheels Association of America Foundation (MOWAAF),[2] recognized that hunger is a developing problem, hence published a study regarding the topic.[3] In 2007, the charity, underwritten by the Harrah's Foundation, commissioned a research study entitled The Causes, Consequences and Future of Senior Hunger in America.[4] The report was released at a hearing of the U.S. Senate Special Committee on Aging in March 2008 in Washington, D.C.
