Bracklesham Bay is a coastal
bay on the west side of theManhood Peninsula inWest Sussex ,England . The bay looks out onto theEnglish Channel and theIsle of Wight is visible from thebeach , as is theNab Tower lighthouse and theSpinnaker Tower inPortsmouth .The bay is
sand y and backed withshingle . The beach is popular withwindsurfer s, divers, surfers (mostly longboarders given the nature of the waves),Stand Up Paddle Surfing andfossil hunters, as theBracklesham Beds , a well known fossil bed is visible at low tide. The bedrock isLondon clay , and bits of the clay can be found on the sands.The villages of
Bracklesham andEast Wittering are found in the centre of the bay and it is bordered by the town ofSelsey on the southern/eastern tip and the village ofWest Wittering on the west side.The nearest city is
Chichester , which is 8 miles to the north.In popular culture
