She served in Navin Ramgoolam's Cabinet. She serves as 2nd Member of Parliament elected in constituency no 14, Black River & La Savanne.
Hanoomanjee is a former civil servant and retired in 2005 as a Ministry Permanent Secretary just before officially joining the Militant Socialist Movement. Being a distant relative of Pravind Jugnauth she obtained candidacy for constituency No 14 in the wake of the 2005 general elections. She nevertheless returned as 2nd Member after Alan Ganoo.
She has been loyal to the MSM and to the Jugnauth family.
