Maxwell William Roman was an officer in the United States Air Force.

Biography
Roman was born in Cornucopia, Wisconsin.[1] He would marry twice. Roman and his first wife, Beverly, would have three children and later divorce. His second wife, Anna, died in 1994. As a civilian Roman worked as a teacher. He died on February 14, 1999 in Lorton, Virginia and is buried at Arlington National Cemetery.
Career
Roman originally joined the United States Army Air Corps after completing high school. During World War II he was assigned to the Ninth Air Force. As commanding officer of the Ninth Weather Reconnaissance Squadron, Roman was in charge forecasting the weather for the Normandy landings. Following the war Roman was assigned to Turkey and helped to establish the country's national weather service. He would retired as a Colonel in 1965.
Honors and awards
Awards he received include the Distinguished Flying Cross, the Bronze Star Medal, and the Air Medal with three silver service stars and three bronze service stars.
