Matti Helge Ranin (born 21 November 1926 in Tampere) is a famous actor in Finland. His parents were actor Helge Ranin and actor Saara Ranin (born Muinonen).
He has had an extensive career both in film and television. He was in his prime as film-actor in the 1950s and 60s, most famously he portrayed Captain Kariluoto in Edvin Laine's The Unknown Soldier, he had the recurring role of Toivo Virta in the Inspector Palmu films and Lauri Salpakari in the 1968 film adaption of Täällä Pohjantähden Alla.
On television he has starred in numerous children's programmes such as Histamiini the Horse in Joulukalenteri (1980, 1985). He also appeared in the comedy series Blondi tuli taloon as Herman Hurmala. More recently he portrayed the role of Kaarle Karis in the drama series Kotikatu.
