Matt D'Aquino is an Australian Judoka who has represented Judo at the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games,[1] 4 World Championships and multiple World Cups around the World. At the Olympic Games D'Aquino lost in the first round to Lavrentios from Greece.[2] Since then D'Aquino has gone on to be the first and only Australian male to win the Pac Rim Championships in it's 40 year history, beating a highly ranked Japanese Judoka in the final.[3] Recently D'Aquino has placed 17th at the World Championships in both 2009 and 2010 as well as placing 7th in the Miami and El Salvador World Cup as well as 7th place in the US Open.

Early Years
D'Aquino started his Judo Career early at the Erindale PCYC . D'Aquino soon developed a good training ethic under the guidance of Sydney 2000 Olympian Thomas Hill.
Career
D'Aquino has won the Australian National Championships two times as well as the Oceania Championships multiple times. D'Aquino has also won tournaments in Europe including the St Gallen Open in Switzerland [4] and placing third in the USK Club cup in Prague, Czech Republic.[5] D'Aquino has also entered other grappling sports such as Freestyle Wrestling and placed second at the national titles in 2010,[6] and in 2009 Matt won both the Purple belt No-gi submission grappling Nationals and the Royler Gracie Cup.[7]
Current
Currently D'Aquino is trying to qualify for the London 2012 Olympic Games. D'Aquino is currently ranked 25th in the world and needs to be in the top 22 countries in order to qualify for the Olympic Games.
