Matt Shakman (born 8 August 1975) is an American television/theatre director and actor. He is the founder and Artistic Director of the Black Dahlia Theatre (BDT) in Los Angeles, which was named one of "a dozen young American companies you need to know" by American Theatre Magazine. BDT has mounted premieres by Stephen Adly-Guirgis, Stephen Belber, Adam Rapp, Oliver Mayer, Richard Kramer, and Austin Pendleton. Under Shakman's helm, BDT opened its latest production, the world premiere of Jonathan Tolins' Secrets of the Trade, a seriocomic showbiz saga, starring John Glover, Amy Aquino, and Bill Brochtrup.
He graduated from Yale University.
He also appeared on TV as the young and lovable JR in the television series Just the Ten of Us.
