Mass averaged velocity

Mass averaged velocity

Mass Averaged Velocity is widely used concept in chemical kinetics. When more than one species in gaseous or liquid state flow together, they not only flow as a bulk, rather they have their own flow velocity too.

The mass averaged velocity of any mixture is the velocities of all the species flowing together taken with the consideration of their masses.
