Mohammad Marwan Arafat ( Arabic: محمد مروان عرفات) is a Syrian Football figure well known for being the first Arabic and Asian football referee to be a linesman in a 3rd place Olympic game match (Moscow 1980). He was the head of the Syrian football association[1] 3 times, and lead the Syrian U-21 team to win the Asian title in Indonesia 1994.
Education
Marwan Arafat finished his primary and secondary study in the schools of Damascus to continue his studies in Geography department of the university of Damascus. He then had a Diploma and Magister in Education from the university of Damascus, and later on had his Doctorate of education from the United States.
Personal life
Born and raised in the city of Damascus in the district of Rukin Al-Dien, Dr. Marwan Arafat is married to Afaf Al-Hibri and has 4 children: Waheed (lawyer), Hanadi (Sport teacher and special Olympics trainer), Waseem (Urologist in Germany) and Waddah (Specializing in Internal Medicine in the United states).
