Martin John Hill OBE (born 1954) is the Leader of Lincolnshire County Council.

Hill was born in Leicester. He was brought up in Lincolnshire, near Grimsby.

Career

He is the Conservative county councillor for Folkingham Rural,[1] which represents 25 (small) parishes. He has been a councillor since 1993.[2]

He has been the Chairman of Heydour Parish Council since 1991. He has been Leader of Lincolnshire County Council since 24 March 2005[3] when Ian Croft resigned. He is the LG Group Executive representative for East Midlands Councils on the Local Government Association.[4] Also on the Executive is Gary Porter,[5] the Leader of South Holland District Council.

He is also the Chairman of the East Midlands Improvement and Efficiency Partnership.[6][7]

Personal life

Hill is a farmer, and lives in a former pub in rural South Kesteven, towards Bourne. He was married in 1987 in Swindon. He was awarded the OBE in the 2008 New Year Honours.[8]
