The Marşandiz Yard (Marşandiz deposu in Turkish) is a classification yard in the city of Ankara. It is owned by the Turkish State Railway. The yard is the largest rail yard on the Anatolian peninsula and in Turkey. The rail yard was built in 1892 by the Central Anatolian Railway (CFOA). In 1927 it was taken over by the Turkish State Railways and expanded in 1972.
Layout
The yard is next to the Istanbul-Ankara Main Line in Ankara, next to the Marşandiz Railway Station. It connects to the line on both ends. The yard has a freight marshaling yard, a passenger yard, an Intermodal Terminal and a locomotive depot.
