Mark Leyva (born October 1, 1959) was the republican candidate for the United States House of representiives Indiana 1st Congressional District in 2010. He managed to get 39% of the vote in the district.
Leyva is a native of East Chicago, Indiana. He previously worked in a steel mill and is now a union carpenter. He caimpaigned as a citizen legislature who exemplified the craftsmen in government ideal he claims the founding fathers had. Leyva is a Roman Catholic.
Leyva previously ran as the Republican candidate in 2002, 2004, 2006 and 2008. He lost attempts to get the Republican nomination in 1998 and 2000.
