The Sombra – Marine City (Bluewater) Ferry is a United States/Canadian cross-border ferry service which runs from Lambton County Road 33/St. Clair Parkway (a former alignment of Highway 40) in Sombra, Ontario to M-29 in Marine City, Michigan. On the Ontario/Canadian side, the dock is on King Street. On the Michigan/American side, the dock is on S. Water Street.
The Bluewater Ferry currently runs two ships, the Daldean of Chatham and the Ontamich. The Daldean is larger and can carry 12 cars or two trucks, while the Ontamich, launched 1939, is capable of ferrying 9 cars or one truck.
As of April 2008 the ferry toll is $6.00 (CAN or US) for an automobile.
On occasion the ferry may not be able to operate because of heavy ice build up on one shore or the other. The first departure from the Canadian Side is 0640 and from the US at 0700.
