Margaret Beames (born 18 October 1935) is a New Zealand-based author best known for writing children's books.[1] Her 2000 book Oliver in the Garden won Best Picture Book and the Children's Choice Award at the 2001 New Zealand Post Book Awards for Children and Young Adults.[2] Her 2002 book Duster was included in the 2003 Storylines Notable Junior Fiction list.
Biography
Beames was born in Oxford, England. Beames lived in Kenya for two years. In 1974, she came to New Zealand and began working as a teacher. Her first book was The Greenstone Summer in 1977. Since then, Beames has published over forty books for children.[3]
