Malootty is a 1992 Malayalam drama film by Bharathan, starring Jayaram, Urvashi and Shamili who is the younger sister of Shalini. It based on the rescue of Jessica McClure in 1987 events set in the 1980s when a girl was trapped in a hole; she later survived after many hours. The title drawings were done by Bharathan's son. Shamili won the Kerala State Film Award for Best Child Artist.[1]

Plot

Five-year-old Malooty was the only daughter of Raji and Unnikrishnan, who were visiting her grandparent's home. However events took a tragic turn when Malooty, playing ball with a dog, suddenly fell into a hole and became stuck inside. Her father struggled to saved his daughter's life from the deadly hole. It took a few hours to save her before it was too late.
