Malathi Rao Born Bangalore,[1] Karnataka, India Occupation Writer Nationality Indian Notable work(s) Disorderly Women Notable award(s) Sahitya Akademi Award Malathi Rao (Kannada: ಮಾಲತಿ ರಾವ್) is an Indian writer. She won the Central Sahitya Akademi award for her English language novel Disorderly Women in 2007.[2] Her novel Disorderly Women is a story of four Brahmin women in India (pre-independence) who struggle to break the barriers built around them by society. Malathi Rao has written three novels, three collections of short stories and authored few newspaper articles.[3] Rao's next novel is Inquisition. It is a story of women on a university campus. She has studied English literature and taught English at Vijaya College,Bangalore when Prof. V.T Srinivasan, a famous educationist was Principal of that college and at Delhi College. Her native language is Kannada.[4] She currently lives in Bangalore.[3]
