Malabar United is a football club, which is registered in Kochi, but has its training base in Kozhikode, based in Kerala state of India. With football climbing the popularity ladder in a big way, Malabar United – which has many NRIs on its board and prominent businessman Mohammed Mannil as its chairman — plans to fight its way through the district and State leagues and into the National league. Currently they play in 2nd division i-league.

Early Years

Malabar have already created some ripples in the professional circuit since inception by finishing third in their debut State Club Championships in 2008 and also reached the semifinals of the Cochin Premier League in 2008. They also had the distinction of qualifying for the I-League Second Division 2008 but were unlucky to be placed in the same group as Viva Kerala and Salgaocar, who eventually got promoted. Despite giving a strong performance, they could not go beyond the group stages. In 2009, Malabar United narrowly missed on qualification to Federation Cup. They reached semifinal of Cochin Premier League but pulled out due to date clash. Since then Malabar United has been active in all local tournaments.

2011

Malabar United participated in I-league division2 of 2011 season but could not grab promotion.
