Mala Gaonkar Haarmann has been a partner and managing director at Lone Pine Capital, LLC a private investment of equity hedge funds since 1998. The former Prime Minister Gordon Brown of The United Kingdom has appointed Mala Gaonkar as a Tate Trustee.[1] Mala Gaonkar has contributed millions to Clinton Foundation.

After graduating in economics, magna cum laude, at Harvard in 1991, she worked for The Boston Consulting Group until 1994. In 1996, Gaonkar completed her MBA at Harvard Business School where she was awarded a Kauffmann Fellowship. From 1996 to 1998, she worked at Chase Capital Partners in New York City. She also served as a consultant working with a United Nations team on the privatization of Mongolian industry and with a hedge fund at Templeton Investment.

Gaonkar's community activities have focused on the arts, as well as supporting public health and infrastructure projects. Mala Gaonkar is a Founders’ Council member at the Harvard University South Asia Initiative,[2] a trustee of Artangel, a member of the board of The Paris Review Foundation, and an Advisory Board member of the Clinton Climate Initiative. Her community interests have included mentoring inner-city students and teaching at Mother Teresa's Children's Home in Calcutta.

Mala has a distinguished career in investment management. Mala Gaonkar is married with two sons and lives in London. She is a daughter of professor Gopal H. Gaonkar and a pediatrician Anasuya Gaonkar.
