The Makaliporn or makkaliphala (from Pali, Thai: มักกะลีผล) is a tree in Buddhist mythology which bears female figures as fruit. They are mentioned in the Vessantara Jataka in which Indra placed these trees around the grove where the Bodhisattva Vessantara meditated.
There are supposedly two Makaliporn pods in a Thai temple near Bangkok in Thailand. Television channel SyFy's Destination Truth (Season 4, Episode 13) explored the legend behind the makaliporn and travels to Thailand in search for the tree, where it is also known as nari phon (นารีผล).
