Makaʻala Yates

Makaʻala Yates (born 1948 in Kona), is a Doctor of Chiropractic and Hawaiian Medicine Specialist with special interest in traditional Hawaiian lomilomi. In July 2006 he was honored with the Kaonohi Award by the Hawaiian Medical Society, Papa Ola Lokahi, for his "dedicated service and outstanding work in Hawaiian medicine."^[1]

Makaʻala was one of the original crew members of the historic voyaging canoe, Hōkūle‘a, in 1976.^[2]
