Maid Marian Entertainment (sometimes shortened to MME) is a gaming site/company produced by Gene Endrody and other respective parties. It was the original home of Sherwood , which later evolved into Sherwood Dungeon, with the addition of an in-game dungeon.[1][2] Other games created by MME include Club Marian, Moonbase, Marian's World (an older version of Club Marian, sometimes considered distinct games due to the big differences), Tankball, Tankball 2 (the same situation), Ratinator and Colin's Crazy Carrera.
History
The URL (maidmarian.com) had been reserved since 1996 by Gene Endrody, without a clear concept.
Gene Endrody is the founder and president of MaidMarian Entertainment, being the creator of Sherwood and Sherwood Dungeon . In-game, he is commonly known as "Sir Gene".
Gene Endrody has worked in computer graphics and digital media for over fifteen years. As the co-founder of VFX Digital Solutions in 1992, he supplied digital video systems and services to production companies, cable stations and government agencies. The company became established as a leading source of information and digital video products in Western Canada.
With Principal Instructor Certification from Alias/Wavefront on Maya and Power Animator, Gene's taught 3D modeling and animation for over ten years. As Department Head at the Center for Digital Imaging and Sound, (currently the Art Institute of Vancouver) Gene managed a team of instructors, designed the Digital Arts Masters Program and was awarded an Honorary Diploma by the faculty in 1998. He has worked as an Instructor and Program Head in the British Columbia Institute of Technology's New Media Centre of Excellence, where he helped design the Digital Animation Program.
As a Technical Art Director at Radical Games, Gene Endrody has worked on a variety of projects, creating games for the Xbox, GameCube and PlayStation 2 game consoles. Over the past decade, Radical has grown to become the world’s largest independent developers of interactive entertainment titles and 3D graphics software. Gene’s duties as Technical Art Director included production design, prototype development, special effects and training.
As the founder of Maid Marian Entertainment, Gene Endrody produces 3D web-games for gaming portals and direct to consumer digital distribution. Maid Marian Entertainment specializes in community oriented, next-generation web based games. Gene’s work was nominated for a People’s Choice Award at UCON2001 in New York and Maidmarian.com currently gets over 1,000,000 unique visitors a month.
Maid Marian Entertainment released Ratinator, a 3D arcade/shooter through Shockwave.com in September, 2003. Ratinator made it to the #3 spot in Top Action Games at Shockwave.com, averaging 4 out of 5 stars in user reviews and played over 40,000 times per day. Ratinator also made The Adrenaline Vault's list of Top Shareware Games for 2003.[3]
Gene Endrody is currently working on a major update for Sherwood Dungeon, which involves him porting the entire game to Flash.
