Maharaja College of Mysore (1889) is a college affiliated to Mysore University.

History & Evolution

It was one of the constituent colleges of Madras University and transferred to Mysore University in 1916. It is one of the oldest colleges of South India. It is the first college for higher studies built by an Indian king (Nalvadi Krishnaraja Wodayar) at the time of British rule. Former President of India Dr. S. Radhakrishnan taught Philosophy for a year, before moving to Caalcatta.

Foundation stone of Maharaja's college was laid on 27 November 1889 by the visiting Prince Albert. It is regarded as one of the best colleges in India.
