Mahamoud Adam Béchir

Mahamoud Adam Béchir (born 1965) is the Republic of Chad's ambassador to the United States.[1] Bechir was appointed to the position of ambassador by President Idriss Deby in November 2004 when his predecessor, Ahmat Hassaballah Soubiane, expressed opposition to the presidency.[1][2]

Biography

Born in Biltine in 1965, Béchir was educated internationally.[2] After obtaining a Bachelor of Science in pharmacy at the University of Khartoum, he continued his education at the Naval Post Graduate School in Monterey, California and its Center for Civil-Military Relations, graduating in 1997 with a Masters Degree. He has also attended England's Cranfield University, taking business administration courses in 2002.

In 2005, he visited West Virginia University.[3]

In 2010, with easing of tensions between Chad and Sudan, President Déby sent to Khartoum, on December 24, his Minister of Foreign Affairs, Moussa Faki Mahamat, accompanied by Ambassador of Chad to the United States, Mahamoud Adam Bashir (who knows many members of the Sudanese regime, from the university in Khartoum) and army officers. The delegation met with Bashir, and gave him a personal message from his counterpart.[4]
