- Magical Night of Giving
-
The "Magical Night of Giving" (as it's called by many malls that have the event) is an annual event put on by malls as a means to raise money for local (and in some cases national) charitable organizations that occurs before Black Friday to "kickoff"[1] the holiday shopping season.
This allows shoppers to purchase gifts at discounted prices without having to endure waiting in long lines or lack of convenient parking while at the same time supporting local charities. The mall is opened on a Sunday night after normal shopping hours and attendees who have purchased tickets are granted access to exclusive discounts at participating stores in the mall. 100 percent of the proceeds benefit participating charities.[2]
At malls managed by Simon Property Group it's called the "Simon Evening of Giving".[3]
