- Magat
-
Magat is a title of nobility in the Tagalog vocabulary of the Philippines. It is used to refer to a noble man. The word has been in use since the pre-Hispanic Philippines and could be the source of the present Tagalog word "Gat" which has the same meaning of nobility and is used to address Philippine revolutionary heroes such as Gat Jose Rizal and Gat Andres Bonifacio. One famous bearer of the title is Magat Salamat, son of Lakan Dula of the Kingdom of Tondo.
