Jesse Aaron Richardson (born May 24, 1986) is an American writer. He is known for creating the Rotten Apple series, a series of stories taking place in several cites across the United States & world; exploiting the style of gritty violence, crime, and betrayal. Most known for the creation of the series' anti-hero, the bounty hunter Benjamin Rex; taking the character all throughout the underground worlds of drugs, cults, hired killers, wanted outlaws and more; throughout the city of New York. The series of Rotten Apple tells its stories through the eyes of several characters each with their own perspective on not only the main character of the series but the world of crime they live in and the daily activities they perform in order to survive.

Biography

Early career

Born in Teaneck, New Jersey, Richardson grew up a comic fan; a collector of thousands of comics and graphic novels. He was raised in Paramus, New Jersey, attending Memorial Elementary School, East Brook Middle School, and Paramus High School. Richardson graduated in 2004 and has since been working on his writing.

Rotten Apple

At 19, Richardson began writing Rotten Apple,^[2] which would later become the title of a collection of short stories weaved into one grand scheme as an online novel, to be turned into numerous graphic novels. The graphic novels of Rotten Apple cite the adventures of a bounty hunter from New York City, told within many chapters and through various perspectives. Many other stories would appear in the series as a collection of off shoots and one shots, as glimpses into the other underground worlds which would shape the series and atmosphere the characters live in. His flagship character; anti-hero, Benjamin Rex, would take point in each story either through his actions and perspective or supporting another character taking lead in his/her own story. Oftentimes, Rotten Apple will dedicate chapters dealing without Rex, showing the entire world of the underground, rather than just one; following the other characters involved in organized crime, drug dealing, corruption, private investigation, cults, serials killers, unlicensed boxing, treasure hunting, hired assassinations, and more. Rotten Apple sometimes veers off the main story, giving the reader the whole universe as all the stories together portray the bigger picture.

Rotten Apple's material is known for being extremely violent at times, portraying the evil and cruel acts of men and women. The series is never too shy to give the reader a reality of how brutal and violent the word can be, and how barbaric people's actions are in order to survive and attain their personal agendas. With its violence there is a sense of humor and realism as each character is written with the intent to represent realistic emotions, behavior and situations. As one character might commit a dangerous crime for profit, they remain human within conversation and context often dealing with day-to-day troubles. The dark side of Rotten Apple although gritty and realistic to violence in America, remains wholesome within its realities of life.

Currently resides in his home town of Paramus, New Jersey.
