Traditionally the area was part of Carinthia and is now included in the Carinthia statistical region.[2]
The local parish church is dedicated to Saint Florian and belongs to the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Maribor. It dates to around 1792 with 19th and 20th century additions.[3]
