Duval-Leroy is a Champagne producer based in the Vertus region of Champagne. The house, founded in 1859, produces both vintage and non-vintage cuvée as well as a line of organic and biodynamically produced wines. Duval-Leroy is one of the last independent and family owned champagne houses.[1] It produces around 5 million bottles every year

History
Duval-Leroy is a family owned business since 1859. It began with the partnership of Mr. Duval and Mr. Leroy in Vertus, a village in the Cote des Blancs.[2] A wedding between the children of these two men followed. The company has been passed down from father to son since then.
Between 1888 and 1893, at the Barcelona, Monaco, Moscow, and Paris Universal Exhibitions, Duval-Leroy was recognized for the quality of its champagne.[3]
In 1911, Duval-Leroy is the first champagne house to elaborate a Premier Cru, called Fleur de Champagne 1er Cru. Raymond Duval-Leroy was at the head of the company at this time. A figure in Champagne, Raymond held the Legion of Honour for its role in the French army in the First World War. Since 1991, Carol Duval-Leroy became CEO at the sudden loss of her husband.[4] The modernisation of production processes,[5] the development of traditional distribution channels, the increased product range and expanded exports[6] are all objectives that Carol Duval-Leroy has set for her company.[7] Carol Duval-Leroy is one of the most dynamic CEOs in Champagne. She received the Legion of Honour and the Order of Leopold.[8] In 2007,[9] she was elected at the head of the Association Viticole Champenoise, a key trade organization.[10]
Vineyards
Duval-Leroy vineyards comprises 200 hectares (490 acres) under cultivation, which represents a third of the requirements of the house.[11] With a presence in all villages classified Grand Crus in the Côte des Blancs and almost all villages classified Grands Crus in the Montagne de Reims, Duval-Leroy benefits from high quality grapes to elaborate fine wines.[12] The vineyard is managed to respect environmental commitments.[11] The company has five press centers across Champagne.

Traditional cuvées
- Brut
- Fleur de Champagne Brut 1er cru - From Grand and Premier Cru vineyards from the Grande Vallée de la Marne, the Montagne de Reims and the Côte des Blancs. Distinguished by a red neck ribbon on the bottle.
- Demi-Sec - A sweeter style, made from 90% Pinots Noir and Meunier. Distinguished by a green neck ribbon.
- Extra Brut - A low dosage style, less than 4.9g of sugar/litre. 100% Chardonnay. Distinguished by a purple neck ribbon.
- Vintage - Produced in good years. 100% Chardonnay.
Special cuvées- Brut Rosé
- Brut AB - Certified organic by Ecocert.
- Collection Paris - Sold in a bottle designed by American painter LeRoy Neiman,[13].
- Clos des Bouveries (vintage) - From a single vineyard overlooking Vertus. 100% Chardonnay.
- Trepail (no longer in production) - From a single vineyard of Chardonnay, which is vinified and bottled separately in the occasion of a particularly excellent vintage.
Authentis- Cumieres (vintage) - Certified organic by Ecocert. From a single Premier Cru vineyard from the Vallée de la Marne. 100% Pinot Noir.
- Femme de Champagne (vintage) - Only produced the best years. Made from Chardonnay Grand Crus of Mont-Aigu from Chouilly, Chapelle of Avize, Terre de Noël from Oger, and Chetillon and Aillerand from Le Mesnil-sur-Oger, with a touch of Pinot Noir.
