Dutty

Dutty is both a positive and negative word used in Jamaica.[1]

Origins and Meaning

Dutty Twi word from Ghana meaning ground.[2] In Jamaica Dutty means dirt or dirty.

Uses

In Jamaica it can be used as a negative word. Example "Dutty Gyal" when someone disgraces another. In Jamaica it is also a positive word meaning to work hard and dirty. Relaxing not worried about being clean cut.
