Career highlights and awards Stats at ESPN.com Dustin Hopkins is an American football kicker who plays for the Florida State Seminoles. He was born in Austin, Texas but raised in Houston, Texas, where he attended Clear Lake High School. He was recruited by Florida State when then Seminoles special teams coordinator Jody Allen watched high school game film of Hopkins' kickoffs. Interest was also shown by Notre Dame.[1]

Hometown Life
Dustin Hopkins is a graduate of Clear Lake High School, where he was voted Prom King, Homecoming King and Senior Class Vice-President and graduated with honors. He is the son of Jim and Karen Hopkins. His father owns and operates a successful construction company Daleigh Construction, named after Dustin and his sister Haleigh. His mother Karen is a successful interior designer. His older sister Haleigh currently attends Baylor University College of Medicine, where she is studying to become a Nurse.
He has two dogs, named Bruiser and Rascal. He played soccer all his life but switched to football in high school where he was a starter at both the corner and kicker position. In his spare time, Dustin enjoys a good Kelley's Country Cooking dinner with family and friends. His favorite meal is chicken fried steak. He is a strong Christian.
College career
As a freshman in 2009, Hopkins had one of the best seasons of any first-year kicker in the country. He hit 19 of 27 field goals, or approximately 70%, over the course of 2009, including a 52 yarder. He was also accurate on his PAT attempts, booting 40 of 44. On November 13, 2010, against Clemson, Florida State, who was trailing the entire game, made a comeback in the 4th quarter. With less than a minute left in regulation, tied at 13, Florida State marched down into Clemson territory, where, with 3 seconds left, Hopkins made a 55 yard field goal to win the game. This was an important ACC victory. In 2011, while playing against Wake Forest, he kicked his 109th extra point in a row, breaking the previous FSU record.
