Drona Parva

Drona Parva is the Book of Drona. This book contains sixty five to seventy two sub- parvas. This particular book is the major book on the Kurukshetra war. Most part of the book continues with the description of the battle. Drona was the commander in the battle. In this Drona Parva, the narration is on most of the great warriors who served on respectively to the Kauravas and the Pandavas in the battle.

Drona Parva, 18 Parvas of Mahabharat In the epic Mahabharata, Drona or Dronacharya is portrayed as the royal guru to the Kauravas and the Pandavas. He was skilled in advanced military arts, including the devastras. Arjuna became his favorite student as he could master the art of military arts because of his unfailing determination. Drona Parva portrays the strong condemnation for the wicked prince Duryodhana and his brothers.

According to the Drona Parva, Drona served Hastinapur all throughout his life and was bound by duty to fight for the Kauravas. In the Drona Parva, Drona has been described as one of the most powerful and destructive warriors in the Kurukshetra War. He was an invincible warrior, whom no person on earth can defeat. He had the blessings of demolishing his enemies single-handedly. Though, favorites, he had to slay hundreds of thousands of Pandava soldiers with his powerful armory of weapons and incredible skill. The Drona Parva puts it such that after the fall of Bhishma, Drona became the Chief Commander of the Kuru Army. It is also described in the Parva that Drona had been the preceptor of most kings involved in the war, on both sides. The Drona Parva is one of the Parvas of the 18 Parvas of Mahabharata that ends with the ruin of all the great warriors who participated in the battle of Kurukshetra.
