Renée C. Fox (born 1928) is an American sociologist and writer. She graduated summa cum laude from Smith College and earned her Ph.D. in sociology from Harvard University in 1954. She was a member of the faculty of the University of Pennsylvania, 1969-1999 as Annenberg Professor of the Social Sciences.[1] She also held concurrently professorships in sociology in psychiatry and sociology in medicine; on retirement she became Professor Emerita, and from 1999-2005 a senior fellow in the Centre for Bioethics. She is a fellow of the Hastings Center, an independent bioethics research institution.
She has been created a Chevalier of the Order of Leopold II by the King of Belgium, in 1995.

Fox is the author of a number of academic books, mainly on medical sociology and ethics; some of them have been translated into French or Japanese.
