- Francis John Lys
-
Dr Francis John Lys (1863–1947) was a British lecturer and academic administrator. He was Provost of Worcester College, Oxford (1919–46)[1] and Vice-Chancellor of Oxford University from 1932 until 1935.
In 1942, Lys purchased Brockleaze (aka Brockless Cottage) in Pullens Lane, Headington, a suburb to the east of central Oxford, and renamed it "Pullen's Gate", but it was used by the forces during World War II.[2] His wife lived in the house after his death until 1973.
