Dr. Ajeenkya D Y Patil (born 22 December 1971) is Chairman of the D Y Patil Group.[1][2] He is the Pro-Chancellor of the Padmashree Dr. D. Y. Patil University and has served as chancellors nominee of the University of Mumbai Senate. He was born in Mumbai, a city which he greatly admires. It is his dream and objective to contribute to the betterment of society. Dr Ajeenkya D Y Patil is a devout follower of Shri Satya Sai Baba, Baba's message of " There is only one religion, the religion of love, there is only one language, the language of the heart, there is only one cast, the cast of humanity", has greatly motivated Dr Ajeenkya D Y Patil to do good for society. His concept of Business philanthropy is particularly notable and he is taking the legacy of his father Dr D Y Patil further by implementing projects that benefit humankind.

Biography

Dr Ajeenkya D Y Patil is the son of Dnyandeo Yashwantrao Patil, a well known educationist who is currently the Governor of Tripura. He has a Master's Degree from Richmond College, U.K. and specialization in Marketing from the London School of Economics.[3] The expansion plans of The D Y Patil Group are led by him and it is his vision to turn the group into a global conglomerate of excellence and success. The D Y Patil International Schools are planned under his leadership. The establishment of a knowledge city near Pune airport is currently[when?] in progress, which is designed to be a world class centre of excellence.[citation needed] He has been honoured with an Honorary Doctorate by the University of Central Lancashire, United Kingdom. He has served as Chairman Of The Central Board For Workers Education ( CBWE ), Ministry Of Labour in the government of India. Due to his excellent work, his term was extended.[citation needed]

Personal life

Dr Ajeenkya D Y Patil spent most of his childhood in Mumbai city, and has studied in the United Kingdom. He has spent considerable time in the United Kingdom and the United States. He is also a Ham Radio Operator, and is particularly interested in technologies. At a very young age in school he had made a transistor radio, much to the fascination of his teachers. One of his projects to remote control a real vehicle cost him a fractured hand at an early age. He played football and cricket during his early childhood, and has also trained in Karate. Ajeenkya likes riding bikes, reading and collecting stamps amongst other hobbies. He is passionate about Nature and conservation of resources, and has been planting trees from early childhood.

  • Nominated as Chancellor’s nominee on the Management Council of University of April 2010 Mumbai by His Excellency, the Governor of Maharashtra
  • Nominated to the International Baccalaureate Organisation Development Council (IBO)
  • Awarded Honourary Doctorate by the University Of Central Lancashire, United Kingdom
