Douglas Alexander Allan, CBE, FRSGS, FRSE, FHWC, FMA (1896-1967) was director of the Royal Scottish Museum in Edinburgh, from 1945-1961.
After studying geology at the University of Edinburgh, Allan took part in the William Speirs Bruce expeditions to Spitsbergen, and acted as assistant in the University Department of Geology under Professor TJ Jehu. He was director of the City of Liverpool Public Museum from 1929-1944.
