History
Doteasy started in 2000, at the time when banner-free free domain-based business web hosting was non-existent.[1] Doteasy’s business model was based on the sale of domain name registrations and the bundling of professional banner-free web hosting and email services with domain name registration – for a single price.[2]
As of Q1 2003, Doteasy has reached the 100,000 customers served milestone and was nominated as one of the 100 best Website and Domain Hosting Services.[3]
Services and Support
In common with many other domain registrars, Doteasy offers website hosting services.[4][5] on Windows and Linux platforms.
Community Events
Doteasy joined the province-wide British Columbia’s 150th anniversary celebration by sponsoring the WeLoveBC.ca photo contest in August 2008.[6]
Doteasy participated in the ORBIS Pull For Sight fundraising event at the Vancouver International Airport in both 2010 and 2011. In 2011, Doteasy was awarded as the Top Team Fundraiser. [7][8]
Controversies
Doteasy was put under the spotlight during the hostage incident at the Washington headquarters of the Discovery Channel – gunman James Lee’s domain, SavethePlanetProtest.com was registered and hosted by Doteasy.com.[9][10][11] Staff at Doteasy.com were interviewed by authorities and the media.[12][13]
After the event, Doteasy released a statement their official blog on September 3, 2010 regarding private domain registration and service discontinuation.[14]
