Roger Margason, who uses the pseudonym of Dorien Grey, is an openly gay[1] American author, (born in Northern Illinois). Margason served in the U.S. Navy and graduated from Northern Illinois University with a BA in English.[2]
Margason is the author of the thirteen-book Dick Hardesty mystery series, four of which have been finalists for a Lambda Literary Award. In addition, the series received a WordWeaving Series of Excellence award.
He also has a gay western/romance/adventure novel, Calico, aimed at young adults and traditional western buffs, and has recently published His Name Is John, Aaron's Wait, and Caesar's Fall the first three books of his Elliott Smith Mystery series to alternate with the Dick Hardesty series.
In addition to his books, he has a three-times weekly blog, "Dorien Grey and Me", a blog of his more than half-century old Navy letters, "A World Ago", a blog of photographs chronicling his life, "Dorien Grey: A Life in Photos", and periodic blogs on AuthorsDen on Amazon.com.
