Laird Samuel Barron (born 1970) is an author and poet, much of whose critically acclaimed work is in the horror genre with a decided slant toward the Lovecraftian and the weird. He has also been the Managing Editor of the online literary magazine "Melic Review". He lives in Washington.

Barron was born in Palmer, Alaska and raised in a wilderness setting. The son of sled dog racer John Barron [http://www.alaskan.com/iditarod/old/bios.html] , he competed in the Iditarod Trail Sled Dog Race three times, and once owned a professional sled dog racing kennel. He has also worked in the tree service industry, as a fisherman on the Bering Sea, and as a personal strength trainer.

Nick Gevers, reviewing for Locus Magazine, has called Barron, "...a miraculous synthesis of Lovecraft and Lucius Shepard." LOCUS October 2005, Issue 537 vol. 55 no. 4

Barron's fiction has appeared in "Sci Fiction", "The Magazine of Fantasy & Science Fiction" and in numerous anthologies. His debut collection "The Imago Sequence & Other Stories" was published in 2007. His poetry has appeared in "Eclectica", "Pith", "Stirring", and "3rd Muse"; much of it is available online.
