Donald H. Richardson, Sr. (1936-4 September 2011), called ''Duck'', was the legendary former men's basketball coach of the Southwest High School Patriots in Macon, Georgia. During his coaching tenure from 1971 to 1990, he was credited with having produced such NBA standouts as Norm Nixon [2] Guard with the LA Lakers, Jeff Malone [3] Guard with the Utah Jazz, Ivano Newbill Guard Memphis Grizzlies, and Sharone Wright Forward Philadelphia 76ers. He also coached several collegiate basketball standouts: Lewis Linder Guard Kentucky State University, Myles Patrick [4] Forward Auburn University, Joe Everett Guard Mercer University, Terry Fair Forward University of Georgia, Walter Daniels Guard University of Georgia, Michael Hunt Forward Furman University, Robert Worthy Guard Morris Brown College, Bobby Jones [5] Guard Western Kentucky University, Eric Jackson Guard North Carolina Central University and Eric Manuel Forward University of Kentucky just to name a few.

- 463-90 All time school record wins 83.7% Winning percentage
- 1 High School National Championship
- 6 Georgia High School Boys Basketball 4 AAA Championships
- 10 Region Championships
- 15 Sub-Region Championships
Acknowledgements and Awards:
- Richardson was named National Coach of the Year in 1979.[1]
- State of Georgia Coach of the Year
- Region Coach of the Year
- Middle Georgia Coach of the Year
- Selected to be Head Coach of the All American Team in the Dapper Dan Basketball Classic
- Recipient of the Steve Schmidt Award
- He was inducted into the Georgia Sports Hall of Fame in 2007.[2][3]
