Traditionally the area was part of the Lower Styria region. It is now included with the rest of the municipality into the Zasavje statistical region.[2]
The parish church in the settlement is dedicated to Saint James (Slovene: Sveti Jakob) and belongs to the Roman Catholic Diocese of Celje. It was built in 1908 on the site of a Gothic predecessor.[3]
