DiskAid is a desktop software for both Mac OS X and Windows developed by DigiDNA and released in June 2008. The application consist in a browser window showing the contents of the iOS device to which the host computer is connected using the original 30-pin/USB connector.

Early Versions

The first release was capable of browsing the entire device if the latter had a jailbreak. Otherwise file transfer capacity was reserved to the media folder of the iPhone, allowing still to copy music or pictures from the Camera Roll noticeably. The application was also accessing a folder that the iPhone app FileAid (the name has changed to http://www.digidna.net/products/fileapp).

Developments

The application has evolved considerably with the appearance of iOS file sharing in iOS 3.2, as it became capable of accessing any installed app on the device. DiskAid has since added numerous features like the ability to copy iPhone data such as SMS text messages, contacts, voice mail, notes, and voice memos to the computer.
