- Dishoom
-
Dishoom (Hindi: डिशुम [ˈd̪ɪʃʊm]) generally refers to the exaggerated sound effect produced in old Bollywood movies when gun is fired, or when someone punches someone else. The origin of the term probably dates back to the 1975 Ramesh Sippy film Sholay which is the highest grossing Bollywood film of all time.
The word is also used similarly to popular slang usage of the expression Mojo to refer to self-confidence, style, spirit and sex-appeal; e.g. She / He's got Dishoom.
It is also a restaurant in Covent Garden, London
