Dirk Stoop

Dirk Stoop (1615, Utrecht – 1686, Utrecht), was a Dutch Golden Age painter.

Biography

According to Houbraken his father was a good glass painter who was the first teacher of Abraham Diepraam.^[1] Houbraken considered Stoop to be a good horse painter.^[1]

According to the RKD he was the brother of Maerten Stoop and travelled to Italy, Portugal, England, and Hamburg before returning to Utrecht.^[2] He is known for portraits and Italianate landscapes.^[2]
