Dipan Ghosh is an Indian theoretical physicist, best known for his exact enumeration of the ground state of a Heisenberg antiferromagnet, known in literature as the Majumdar–Ghosh Model.[1] He was the deputy director of the Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay from 2005 to 2006, and was the president of the Indian Physics Association from 2005 to 2007.[2]

Ghosh did his PhD from the Tata Institute of Fundamental Research in Mumbai, under the guidance of Prof. C. K. Majumdar, with a thesis titled “Study of Magnetic Hamiltonians”.[2] He held appointments at the University of California, Santa Cruz and at Viswa Bharati University, before joining IIT Bombay in 1974.
